SACRAMENTO, CA – The Sacramento City Unified School District and the Heads of Employment International Union, Local 1021, today issued the following joint statement, in which they announced that they have reached a preliminary agreement on a three-year contract: SEIU, Local 1021, will now pass the provisional agreement to its members for ratification. Once ratified, the Education Committee will vote in favour of approving the agreement. SEIU and the district look forward to continuing to work together to make Sacramento City`s unified schools chosen targets for students and families throughout California. “In order to achieve the district guiding principle, to ensure that every student has the same chance to conclude with the greatest number of post-secondary options from the widest range of options, the two directors of service employees International Union, Local 1021 and sacramento City Unified School District agree that our students need a safe and positive school climate and learning environment. The work of our ranked staff, represented by SEIU, Local 1021, is indispensable to achieve this goal. The three-year interim agreement we have reached will help the district retain and recruit the qualified staff needed to support safe, well-maintained and efficient schools.
